Assignors Now Control Referee Payment Setup for Events
A powerful new capability gives assigning organizations direct control over who pays referees—and how much—without waiting on event hosts for every change.
What’s New
GotSport has introduced a significant update to its Referee Management Platform that gives assigning organizations greater autonomy over referee compensation. Previously, payment configuration was managed at the event-host level, requiring back-and-forth coordination for every event. Now, when a host enables the new setting, assignors can take the wheel entirely—adding payors, defining pay scales, and managing rates on their own.
GotSport’s referee platform is built to handle the full lifecycle of officiating: building and maintaining a referee pool, adding officials to events, scheduling assignments via the Match Chart or Detail View, publishing assignments, communicating with referees, and processing payments through GotSport Pay. This update extends that control further, directly into the hands of the people who know their referees and events best.
What This Means for Assignors
Once the event host enables this feature for your assigning organization, you gain three new capabilities:
Add Multiple Payors
Designate one or more organizations responsible for paying referees at an event. Only organizations already registered to that event will appear as eligible options.
Define Pay Scales
Set and manage the exact referee compensation rates tied to each payor. Tailor pay by match type, official position, or any structure your organization uses.
Protected Configuration
Once you configure payors and pay scales, the event host cannot remove that capability from your organization—giving you stability throughout the event.
How to Set Up Payors and Pay Rates
Follow these steps inside GotSport after confirming your event host has enabled the feature for your organization:
Configuring Payors in Your Event
- Navigate to Referee → Assigning from your main GotSport dashboard.
- Open the Events tab and select the event you want to configure.
- Go to the Payors tab within the event settings.
- Click
+ Newto add a paying organization. Only organizations already registered to the event will appear in the list.Click the payor’s name to open their record, then enter the referee pay rates you want to apply for that organization. - Click the payor’s name to open their record, then enter the referee pay rates you want to apply for that organization.
Where This Fits in GotSport’s Referee Tools
GotSport’s Referee Management platform supports the complete officiating workflow: managing your referee pool, adding officials to events, assigning matches via the Match Chart or Detail View, publishing assignments, and keeping referees informed through built-in email and SMS tools. Payment processing through GotSport Pay is the final link in that chain.
This new payor capability arrives alongside several other recent platform improvements that expand assignor control. The Match Chart self-assign option allows specific matches to be opened for referees to claim directly, reducing manual workload. And referees must now select a reason when declining a match, giving assignors more visibility into why assignments go unanswered.
